One day，a little mouse jumped onto a sleeping lion.

The lion woke up. "Got you!" he said.

"Eee-Eee!" said the mouse.

"Please let me go!

One day I may help you."

The lion laughed at the little mouse.

He laughed and laughed.

He did not see the big bet by the trees,

and he walked into it.

"Help!"he roared.

"I can't get away!

Who will help me ?

Who will come and help me?"

But no one came, all day.

Then, after the sun went down,

the mouse came out of her hole.

"The lion is roaring for help!"

She said. "I'm coming!"

The mouse ran to help the lion.

"I can make a hole in that net with my teeth," she said.

And she did."You can get out now."

said the mouse.

"See! A little mouse like me

did help a big lion like you."

"Yes, I see," said the lion.

"Yes, a mouse can help a lion.

Thank you, little mouse."

"I am pleased I let you go,

little mouse," said the lion.

"So am I," said the mouse.

Tortoise and his friends live by the river.

One morning, they want to cross the river.

Elephant and giraffe have long legs.

They can wade.

Monkey has strong arms and tiger has strong legs.

They can jump.

Poor old Tortoise has short legs.

He can't wade or jump.

Elephant is very kind and helpful.

"You can climb onto my trunk and

cross the river with me," he says.

" Or you can climb onto my back and

cross the river with me, " says Giraffe.

Monkey is very friendly.

"You can jump over the river with me,"he says.

(Hold onto my hand.)

"Or you can jump with me," he says.

(Hold onto my foot.)

But poor old tortoise is scared.

His body shakes.

(I will fall.)

So, the friends make a secret plan.

Giraffe bends a tall tree with his long neck.

Elephant snaps the tree with his strong trunk.

Tiger pulls the tree to the river with his strong teeth.

Monkey helps with his strong arms.

"What's that?" asks Tortoise.

"It's a bridge！say his friends.

"Who's it for?" asks shy old Tortoise.

"It's for our best friend-YOU!"

Emma plays the guitar. It is very loud.

Dad can't hear the TV.

Mum can't hear the phone.

Joe can't hear his friends at the door.

"Emma, please stop that noise!" they say.

She stops.

Dad goes back to the living room.

He sits on the sofa and turns on the TV.

It is boring.

Mum sits in the kitchen.

The phone doesn't ring.

Joe wants in his bedroom. He is bored.

His friends don't come.

Everyone is unhappy.

Mum has got an idea.

Where's Dad's trumpet?

It's under the table.

Where's Mum's keyboard?

It's in the study.

Where are Joe's drums?

They're in the garage

Emma hears the music.

She runs downstairs.

She is in a band.
